Essential Oil Blog Post Sharing

As many of you know who follow HairBlues, I often share information about Essential Oils because I am a NAHA Certified Aromatherapist. Recent news about essential oils and the wellness and well-being benefits of using them (after checking with your doctor of course) 🙂 are one of the Wellness “Top Topics” nowadays.

I have shared the Essential 3 blog with you before, but this month, they have included a fascinating review that dives deep into the benefits of one essential oil in particular—Patchouli. Often recognized for its rich and earthy fragrance, Patchouli is not just a relic of “hippie news” from the past; it is an essential oil that truly deserves to be highlighted for its numerous benefits.

The benefits of Patchouli extend beyond just its aromatic qualities. Historically, it has been known to support emotional balance and contribute to a sense of grounding. When used in aromatherapy, Patchouli can help uplift mood and alleviate feelings of stress or anxiety. Moreover, it possesses antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, making it valuable in skincare. It can assist in the healing of minor cuts, burns, and rashes, contributing to overall skin health and appearance.

If you’re curious about how to incorporate Patchouli into your wellness routine or simply want to learn more about its applications, I highly recommend checking out the Essential 3 newsletter this month. They provide thoughtful insights and practical ideas on how to utilize this remarkable oil effectively.

Living with the Book Segment #4

By now some of you may have purchased the 2nd issue of Better Magazine, which was created by Dr. Jen Ashton. In Segment #3, on this blog, I commented on her first issue of the magazine, which you can read about at this link https://hairblues.me/2023/06/19/living-with-the-book-segment-3/.

I assure you this is a magazine you want in your reading pile. The topics provide guidelines on how to live your best healthful life.

Have you thought about Plastic Surgery? Well, if your answer is yes, you will want to read what her “Core Expert” has to say about things you should consider. It is an article you can trust because Dr. Ashton reveals that her brother is a “renowned reconstructive plastic surgeon“…
Do you want advice on how to get more sleep, or what foods you should have in your diet? Do you want to look younger at any age? What is “Exercise Snacking“? These are just some of the topics that you can look forward to reading. And there is a lot more.

In addition, I hear Dr. Jen Ashton is coming out with a 3rd issue of her Better Magazine in May 2024.

Beauty & Wellness Rescue

chaos-645336_1920I must admit that I have been perplexed about what to write for my May post.  Given the chaotic time we are all confronting with the Coronavirus challenge, it seemed impossible to figure out what could be important enough to share via Beauty Topics.

On further reflection, I decided that it is important that we not lose ourselves in this formidable challenge by denying ourselves self pampering and what we do ‘normally’ (observing certain restrictions). A sense of continuity is most important when our world has been turned upside down.  It’s the little personal rituals that keep us centered when we are figuring out our new terrain.  In keeping with that idea, I think taking care of ourselves should include how we look on the outside, and how we feel on the inside as we navigate through life’s eruptions – new and old.

Below are some suggestions for you to explore, and to help you look and feel better.

Meditation Anyone?

Thinking you are unable to meditate is a little like thinking you are unable to breathe, or to concentrate or relax.’ Jon Kabat-Zinn, Wherever You Go, There You Are

This is the continuation of last month’s post about ‘Mindfulness’ and whether there is a difference compared to mediation.  I searched the www  for help in clarifying if they are the same thing.  Below is one explanation, which I hope helps 🙂

Meditation is when you intentionally set aside time to do something that’s good for you, and there are all kinds of meditations. Mindfulness is both a general awareness of the world and a formal meditation practice. It’s two things, not one. Meditation and mindfulness overlap in mindfulness meditation, which is one of the most popular types of meditation. Source: What’s Actually the Difference Between Mindfulness and Meditation?

If you are still not convinced that you should explore mindfulness/meditation,  here are some of the benefits I found:  alleviates chronic pain; reduces stress; an, regulates emotions in the brain.  In addition, scientists and psychologists are also on board with the idea that these results can be gained by meditating.  Source: http://www.awaken.com/2017/01/benefits-of-meditation-2/
