I am eager to share this information for May 2022 Mental Health Month. According to its website Mental Health America (MHA) is a community-based, non-profit organization founded in 1909.
The focus of MHA is to help people who have been living with the stress of the pandemic and to provide assistance with “early identification and intervention for those at risk”. And, this year’s theme is “Mental Health Month – Back to Basics.”
FYI – Below is a description from their website:
In 2014, Mental Health America (MHA) launched our online mental health screening: a collection of online, free, confidential, anonymous, and scientifically validated screening tools to help individuals understand and learn more about their mental health.
For those of us who have wondered what we are going to do about the question of using cosmetics, which are tested on animals, California is taking an affirmative action to tackle this question by voting to pass a Cruelty-Free Cosmetics Act, which will go into effect by January 1, 2020. Governor Jerry Brown recently signed the act. California will become the first state to penalize corporations, that sell products which are tested on animals.
Some Facts:
American and European cosmetics brands sold in China are required to have animal testing. If you are using a product that is sold in China, it is not cruelty free.
Various products, such as, shampoo, deodorant, and perfume that we use in the US are also sold in China. For example, Maybelline; Este Lauder; Origins; and, Clinique,

Brands on the “leaping bunny” list are considered to be cruelty free. You can review this list by clicking here: ♥ Cruelty Free Kitty
The FDA does not require animal testing for cosmetics.
You can read details at this link: Humane Society
You can load a free app on your iPhone or Android Phone, which helps you find companies that tell you if the company tests on animals. Use this PETA link: https://www.peta.org/action/bunny-free-app/
This is the continuation of last month’s post about ‘Mindfulness’ and whether there is a difference compared to mediation. I searched the www for help in clarifying if they are the same thing. Below is one explanation, which I hope helps 🙂
Meditation is when you intentionally set aside time to do something that’s good for you, and there are all kinds of meditations. Mindfulness is both a general awareness of the world and a formal meditation practice. It’s two things, not one. Meditation and mindfulness overlap in mindfulness meditation, which is one of the most popular types of meditation. Source: What’s Actually the Difference Between Mindfulness and Meditation?
If you are still not convinced that you should explore mindfulness/meditation, here are some of the benefits I found: alleviates chronic pain; reduces stress; an, regulates emotions in the brain. In addition, scientists and psychologists are also on board with the idea that these results can be gained by meditating.
