Sun Protection with SPF ?

heat-149937_1280Many of us know that we should use some type of protection from the sun on our skin.  But how many of us know what makes an SPF product right for our needs and to get the best results. I searched the www to find what the experts say. Make sure to click the source links for more details.

Here are some facts

  1. The term SPF, or sun protection factor, is a measurement of UVB protection.
  2. UVB rays are the burning rays, while UVA rays are the aging rays, leading to wrinkles and dark spots on the skin.
  3. By choosing a higher SPF, you may avoid a sunburn, but UVA rays may still be getting through.
  4. …choosing a sunscreen that offers “broad spectrum” protection is essential to protect against both UVB and UVA rays.
  5. Look for the following on your product’s label: zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, avobenzone, ecamsule or oxybenzone. Source: PCA SKIN

Healthwise Cosmetics

cosmetics-packaging-353541_1920I must admit when I go into ANY store with cosmetics counters, all those pretty jars, lipsticks, smells and mostly promises, I just can’t help myself with ‘trusting’ what the Brand says it can do. How about you? Are you certain that the cosmetics you’re using on that delicate, beautiful skin of yours is safe?  Do you know where you can find out?  Well, as usual there is an APP for that :). Why do Yoga?

  • One of my favorites is Child Pose, so I checked what some of the benefits are when using the pose, and this is what I found out: It’s super calming, great for digestion, and opens the hips.
  • Another one of my favorite positions is Downward Facing Dog, which is a little harder for me to do, but it has some great benefits also: It brings blood flow to the brain, builds stronger bones, relieves stress.  The blood flow to your face and brain is good for your complexion. This pose is also good for back pain and a mind-body connection.


I know that your time is precious, so why should you spend it doing yoga? You could be doing Zumba or spinning or Tae Kwan Do. Taking a nap, taking a walk, taking a swim. Actually, those things are all great and you should definitely do them. But you should also do yoga. canstockphoto19653570I don’t know about you but I have spent a ‘pretty penny’ trying to find the best skin care products to use.  It’s an expensive dent in my budget.  That’s why when I read this article in the March 2016 Real Simple Magazine, I could not wait to share it with you. Of course we all have our ‘favorites’ when it comes to skin care, and so do our faces :).  However, one should experiment occasionally when adding a new product to our skin care regimen.  Here are some of the highlights of what the dermatologists had to say.

♦ According to Heather Rodgers, M.D.  washing your face twice a day is not required because your skin protects it. For example, once you’ve cleaned your face in the evening, the next morning you only need to rinse it with water. Dr. Rodgers recommends Eucerin Gentle Hydrating Cleanser ($6.00) – Eucerin Products

blackheadsMost of us have experienced a Blackhead or two.  I once ‘popped’ one and the next day I had a huge red bump on the top of my nose.  Needless to say, I was not happy.  It took almost a week before the sore spot healed.  I did not do that again. 2016 Resolutions

Happy New Year!  It’s that time again.  Yes, the time when we vow to lose weight, eat healthfully, and generally put ourselves ‘on the spot’ to clean up our eating and exercise habits.  Well, don’t despair on how you will get that done.  Give yourself a little help and get ‘Fooducated’ by visiting the Fooducate.com website.

Here’s a little preview on how they encourage us:

Don’t give up. There is a way to tame the beast, just read on. In order to succeed, your weight loss resolution has to be quantifiable, feasible, and piecemeal.

We’ll explain:

1. Quantifiable. Don’t generalize about weight loss, define a specific goal – “I want to lose 25 pounds” or “I’ll weight 155 by July 4th”. Being specific forces you to be more accountable to yourself.

2. Feasible. Let’s face it, not all of us have the body type of a Victoria’s Secret model or a Quarterback. Set a goal that is achievable for you. Err to the easier side. You can always add another goal if your first one was easily achieved.

3. Piecemeal. Losing 25 pounds is quite a hefty goal. It will take a long time to get there. During that time, there will be moments of doubt, days where the scale moves in the wrong direction, and other unpleasant surprises.

Breaking down your goal into 5 pound increments can be extremely motivating. Instead of waiting 6 months for success, within a matter of weeks you can attain your first milestone. Each small victory will act as a huge motivator for you to keep pushing.

I searched the www and found a beauty blog, which has great ideas and product suggestions for making up your eyes. In addition, you can find videos which guide you through how to apply your makeup.  It’s definitely worth visiting and learning some new techniques to help you get to the holiday party with your makeup looking its best!
