I am convinced aging is something we should welcome. The opportunity to share our mature years with our family and friends is certainly a blessing. Nevertheless, not only do we want to be fit, we also want to look our best. Feeling good about our appearance is important to many of us. So when a study comes out that helps us to do that, we are happy to learn about it.
In a recent study conducted at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia with 903 adults below the age of 55 that regular use of sunscreen show no increase in skin aging. In fact, the study showed that the adults who used sunscreen daily appeared 24 percent younger than those who did not use the sunscreen daily. Miracle? Maybe :), but I think many of us may consider using SPF protection going forward after hearing about these findings. you can read more about the study by clicking this link. via Sunscreen – The New Fountain of Youth? | Advanced Dermatology Blog – Dermatologists in NY and NJ.
Below is the scoop on some of the best moisturizers with SPF. Click on the link for details.
Sunscreens are essential for skin care day in and day out, 365 days a year. If applied correctly (meaning liberally and reapplied as often as needed), they are the best anti-wrinkle product you can use. In order to make the Best Products list, a moisturizer with sunscreen must: Provide broad-spectrum sun protection and be rated SPF 15 or greater. Help skin fight sun damage. Increase healthy collagen production. Contain a mix of antioxidants, skin-repairing ingredients, and cell-communicating ingredients. Protect skin from environmental damage. Improve skin texture. Contain the appropriate ingredients for your skin type. Not be packaged in a jar via Best Moisturizers With Sunscreen: Beautypedia Skin Care Reviews.
When I first got into my SPF obsession (back in my undergrad years of college), I didn’t really feel the need to shell out money for the most expensive brands. I was happy perusing the drugstore aisles for a decent moisturizer. I also wasn’t aware how important having an SPF of 30 was. The best one I found was Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer in SPF 15 ($16.99) (although a SPF 30 one does exist and I recommend getting that one). via Renee Jacques: I Tried Seven Popular Sunscreens And Found The Best One.
In the past HairBlues has focused mainly on hair loss and hair care suggestions. However, in the future this blog will focus on various types of beauty issues; nails, hair color processes that promote articles about beauty, and what others define as beauty.
♦ Are tattoos taboo, or beautiful? To whom? What is “body art”?
♦ What is the false hair and human hair industry doing for and to women? Which women primarily? What is ethical human hair?
♦ Is it important that you have a particular hair salon and hair beauty specialist attend to your hair?
♦ Does it make a difference if you pay $100 or $50 to have your hair done? What do hair specialist do, that you can not get done by doing it yourself?
♦ Can women get a good haircut at a barbershop?
♦ Are some beauty salons community hotspots where discussions of various topics, and seeing friends take place?
♦ Do nail gels ruin your nails? What do some people say about ultra violet nail drying machines?
HairBlues looks forward to the coming conversations, and exchanges. We hope that you will join in. The calendar format will change to a monthly update rather, than a post every other week. We welcome your continued interest and ask that you make sure to continue to follow us, as well as hearing your ideas of topics you would like to view and learn about.
How many disguises have you created since you learned that you would be counted among the innumerable women undergoing hair loss? HairBlueshas written about it before, and although hair loss by itself is not a life threatening process, it does indeed bring high concern, and anxiety to many. The stories at the Women’s Hair Loss Project blog brings us further understanding of what it can be like to find yourself in this predicament. At the same time, there are also uplifting stories from women who have managed to get married, have productive lives, and moved on with this challenge in hand. We hope you will too.
At HairBlues we feel compassion for those many women who have not found their comfort level yet. We can only hope they discover that with, or without, their disguises in reality their true beauty is within them. Surely, others really looking for true beauty will find it in them too.
The American Hair Loss Association has given some guidelines for attacking hair loss proactively. Make sure to visit the blog when the opportunity is right for you.
♦ Women are in a “Catch-22” position when it comes to drug treatments for androgenetic alopecia. While many drugs may work to some degree for some women, doctors are reluctant to prescribe them, and drug companies aren’t exactly falling over themselves to test existing or new drugs specifically for their ability to prevent and treat female pattern baldness. via American Hair Loss Association – Women’s Hair Loss / Treatment.
Occasionally you may want to‘recreate‘ your look. Weaves give you a way to change your ‘outward personality‘, and maybe, the attitude that goes with it! 🙂 In addition, weaves give you an opportunity to take care of your ‘natural hair’ when it needs some time to repair or refresh from the experiments you put it through. 🙂
HairBlues tries to find the best solutions and suggestions at the various websites, which cover the topics featured on this page. Check out the tips found for protecting your hair underneath your weave. There were any number of sites that provided many and fascinating suggestions on what to do during this beauty transition period. Some of the suggestions I liked are listed below. As always, for the detailed information provided by each site, click on the link at the end of each topic.
Ladies, we all view our hair as precious. But if you’ve noticed that your hair is damaged, you have two options. 1. To cut it or 2. To save it. A lot of ladies are able to save the damaged hair through weaves or wigs, but remember if you choose this option you MUST take care of your hair underneath it all. via Hair De La Crème: Taking Care of Your Hair: Weave Edition.
AVEDA is promising it has found a solution for thinning hair. This apparent solution reduces hair loss by 33%! It cannot bring back the hair you have lost; however using their product can substantially help you to keep the hair you have. AVEDA products are mostly plant-based. You may want to check out what they think about their products. Here’s a little summary of what they have to say: “Ever since a hairdresser founded Aveda in 1978, our products have been harvested with respect for the earth, in harmony with the web of life.” viaDiscover Aveda
Below is an interesting comment I found on-line about the product (Make sure to click the Tumblr link for more comments).
Aveda’s Invati line is for Hair Regrowth. It is not for people who simply wish to have thicker hair, use Pure Abundance for that.
The Shampoo and Conditioner are designed to do is keep the scalp from building up too much oil, so balding people can go back to only washing it every other day, like you should be doing (Washing it every day dries out your scalp and hair). What the Spray is designed to do is invigorate (hence the name) the scalp of those who are balding, forcing the hair follicles to start producing hair again. I don’t know why they’re using that Kim Kardishian (?) lookalike for the ads. Invati is just a better Rogaine. viainvati | Tumblr.

Hair Blues suggestion: You may want to stop by the Aveda store and ask for a sample. That’s what I did. I used the shampoo and conditioner, and liked the result. Of course it’s too early to report long range results 🙂
I hope this is helpful. See you at the next Post 🙂
Although you may not suffer from total baldness, it is still worthwhile knowing about this possible cure. Don’t be discouraged that the article focuses on ‘male pattern baldness’. Women will also benefit in the future from this discovery.
Below are some of the Key Points covered in the article:
♦ Significant protein Prostaglandin D synthase (PDG2), also called PGD2, showed up in high levels of men with baldness.
♦ Scientists learned that PDG2 was not in areas of the body which have much more hair.
♦ Scientists concluded that the PDG2 protein impedes hair follicle growth.
♦ Scientist hope to find a way to block PDG2, which could reverse balding, or prevent balding.
I am sure there are special thanks being expressed to the doctors and researchers who have devoted their time and efforts to the balding issue.
I know you have heard there are APPs for everything, but maybe you hadn’t thought about Hair Loss Treatment being one of those APPS! I was delightfully surprised to find some interesting ones.
